SUMMARY:For Freedoms: Where Do We Go From Here?
DESCRIPTION:  \nRegister for Event \n  \nCenter for Black Visual Culture. \nThe CBVC welcomes For Freedoms Artist coalition to discuss their new monograph ‘Where Do We Go From Here?’ in conjunction with the exhibition ‘Where Do We Go From Here: The Four Freedoms Photographs’ in the Cooper Square Gallery. This panel will be followed by a book signing. \nFor Freedoms is an artist-led organization that centers art as a catalyst for creative civic engagement\, discourse\, and direct action. Founded in 2016 by a coalition of artists including Hank Willis Thomas\, Eric Gottesman\, Michelle Woo\, and Wyatt Gallery\, For Freedoms is dedicated to fostering an environment of listening\, healing\, and justice through a wide range of creative activations. For Freedoms works closely with a variety of artists\, organizations\, institutions\, and brands to expand what participation in a democracy looks like and reshape conversations about politics. \nFor Freedoms has grown to become the largest community for creative civic engagement in the United States and has produced 654 billboards tied to election years as well as campaigns with AAPI\, Indigenous\, and climate activist groups. ‘Where Do We Go From Here?’ The eagerly anticipated book documenting these works\, scheduled for publication in October 2024\, will be “a way to show the conversation around who For Freedoms is and why we exist\,” says Eric Gottesman\, a co-founder of For Freedoms. \n \nDate:  October 29\, 2024 \nTime:  6:00-7:30pm EST \nLocation: 20 Cooper Square\,\nRoom 101\,\nNew York\, NY 10003
