SUMMARY:French-American Artistic Conversations
DESCRIPTION:French-American Artistic Conversations\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Center for Research on English-speaking Worlds (CREW) at Université Sorbonne Nouvelle and the Center for Black Visual Culture (CBVC) at New York University are delighted to invite you to the event “French-American Artistic Conversations”\, featuring photographer Carla Williams at the Sorbonne. \nThe conversation will bring together Carla Williams with Dejha Carrington (NYU)\, Amandine Nana (Palais de Tokyo)\, Deborah Willis (NYU)\, Clémentine Tholas (USN)\, and Laurence Cossu-Beaumont (USN). \nFrench-American Artistic Conversations is a research collaboration between two institutions deeply engaged with culture and the arts and committed to developing a shared reflection on Black and diasporic visual arts\, as well as on the principles of equity\, diversity\, and inclusion. The project builds on a series of encounters with artists organized at the Sorbonne by the CREW research team since2024. The new edition continues this initiative while opening our research activities more broadly to students at all levels and to the general public\, as part of a commitment to open research and public engagement. \nThe event will take place on Tuesday\, November 10\, 2026\, at 5.00 p.m. in the Amphithéâtre Liard at the Sorbonne (17 rue de la Sorbonne\, 75005 Paris). It will be followed by a reception\, offering members of the audience an opportunity to continue the conversation with the speakers in a more informal setting. \nThe event is free and open to all\, but registration is required: https://forms.gle/vdTMjZRPs9nGP7128. If you cannot attend inperson\, the conversation will also be livestreamed on Université Sorbonne Nouvelle’s YouTube channel. \n\nRSVP \nDates:  November 10\, 2026 \nTime:  5:00 pm CET \nLocation: Amphithéâtre Liard at the Sorbonne 17 rue de la Sorbonnea\, 75005 Paris

SUMMARY:#CDE3121 Prince Virtual Symposium
DESCRIPTION:#CDE3121 Prince Virtual Symposium \nJoin us on November 13–15\, 2026 (Friday–Sunday) for #CDE3121\, a Prince VIRTUAL symposium\, as we continue to commemorate ten years since Prince’s passing\, while celebrating the 30th anniversaries of both Chaos and Disorder (1996) and Emancipation (1996)\, and the 20th anniversary of 3121 (2006). \nWe don’t talk about these three albums as much as we should. Chaos and Disorder captures the end of Prince’s major-label era\, fulfilling his final obligation to Warner Bros. Emancipation is his declaration of independence\, celebrating freedom with his first released triple album\, created on his own terms. Ten years later\, 3121 is his vindication. Prince continues to evolve as a free agent\, expanding the possibilities of independence across his creative and business endeavors while proving that his independence works commercially\, too.\n\nTogether\, these three albums trace a critical arc in Prince’s career: the end of one era\, the declaration of independence that followed\, and the evidence\, a decade later\, of what that freedom made possible. \nThere are so many lessons to be learned and relearned about creative control\, artistic vision\, and sheer genius and creativity. Let’s come together to give these albums the attention they deserve and explore what they still have to teach us because we need these lessons now more than ever. \nSubscribe to pre-register and receive symposium announcements at https://cde3121.substack.com \nExplore the schedule and speaker lineup on the symposium website: https://cde3121.polishedsolid.com \n#CDE3121 is the 12th polished solid virtual Prince symposium curated by De Angela L. Duff. \nMASSIVE THANKS for the continued support of Princesyllabus.org\, our longstanding NYU sponsors\, and the exceptional graphic design by Rev3rend. \nThe Estate of Prince Rogers Nelson is not affiliated\, associated\, or connected with the “#CDE3121 Virtual Prince Symposium\,” nor has it endorsed or sponsored the “#CDE3121 Virtual Prince Symposium.” Further\, the Estate of Prince Rogers Nelson has not licensed any of its intellectual property to the producers\, advertisers\, or directors of the “#CDE3121 Virtual Prince Symposium.” \n#Prince4Ever \nWhat lessons would we be learning if he were still with us today? \nRSVP \n  \nDate:\nNovember 13–15\, 2026 (Friday–Sunday) \nLocation:\nVIRTUAL
