Michaela Angela Davis is a writer, image activist, and cultural critic who has shaped Black beauty and media culture for over three decades. As VIBE magazine’s founding fashion director, she worked alongside icons including Diana Ross, Prince, and Maya Angelou, helping define the visual language of Black music and style journalism. She continues to work at the intersection of media, identity, and activism, using her platform to advocate for the representation and dignity of Black women.

Dr. Joan Morgan is Program Director of NYU’s Center for Black Visual Culture and Institute of African American Affairs, an award-winning cultural critic, feminist author, Grammy-nominated songwriter, and a pioneering hip-hop journalist. She coined the term “hip-hop feminism” in 1999 with the publication of her groundbreaking book When Chickenheads Come Home to Roost, now taught in college classrooms across the country. Regarded internationally as an expert on hip-hop, the Caribbean, and gender, she is also the author of She Begat This: 20 Years of The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill and has appeared on HBO Max, Netflix, MTV, BET, CNN, and MSNBC, among others.
