Inaugural Jean Blackwell Hutson Lecture & Award

September 8, 7PM, Schomburg Center.

Join the Schomburg Center for their inaugural Jean Blackwell Hutson Lecture and Award in September. This award commemorates former Chief Librarian of the Schomburg Center, Jean Blackwell Hutson, for whom the Center’s research and reference division was named.

A key figure in the Center’s history, Hutson advocated for the Schomburg Center to move into its own building, developed the Schomburg Dictionary Catalog, expanded the Library’s collection from 15,000 to 75,000 volumes of materials over her career and promoted the Library within the community.
